Top Youtube Link (URL) and Embed tricks

1. Force high quality view on Youtube share link (URL Link)

When you cut and paste the Youtube video link, it will automatically play the low quality format. If you want it to automatically play the high quality format, add the code ‘&fmt=18′(stereo, 480 x 270 resolution) or ‘&fmt=22′(stereo, 1280 x 720 resolution) at the end of the link.

Here’s how a link code looks like:

2. Embed Higher Quality Youtube Videos (Embed)

If you want to embed the video into your website, insert the code &ap=%2526fmt%3D22 or &ap=%2526fmt%3D18

3. Change Playback start time of Youtube video (URL Link)

This features is great especially if you’re showing examples using Youtube videos. It’s important when viewers play that video that it starts in the time stamp you’re referring to.

For example, if I want to show you Mic Jagger joining Bono in this singalong at the one minute mark, I’ll simply add the following code:  #t=03m22s (#t=XXmYYs for XX minutes and YY seconds) to the end of the URL.

4. Change Playback start time of Youtube video (Embed)

To change the start time of the embedded Youtube video on your website, follow this formula. For example, if I want the video to start at 2 minute and 35 seconds (2×60+35=80seconds). The additional code would look like this: &start=155

5. Hide the search box on Youtube embedded video

To hide the search box add this code: &showsearch=0 to the embed url.

 

6. Autoplay an embedded Youtube video

When you embed a Youtube video, it will stay frozen on a frame waiting for you to hit play. You can change this to Autoplay by inserting the following code: &autoplay=1

 

7. Loop an embedded Youtube video

Add the code: &loop=1 to make the video restart after it reaches the end.

 

8. Disable Related Youtube Videos

If you want to get rid of other people’s content that may be related or unrelated to you, Just add the code: &rel=0 to the end of the url part of the embed code.

 

9. Omit Youtube Regional Filtering

To view videos that are only available in certain countries, Change the URL from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v= to http://www.youtube.com/v/

 

10. Download Youtube Video in HD

Change the URL from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v= to http://www.KeepHD.com/watch?v=

You will need to specify align=”left/right” within your iframe tag.
